Lech am Arlberg 2008 Photographs Online

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Well I finally got around to putting all the photographs from my snowboarding trip to Lech am Arlberg in January 2008.

I really did take a lot of photos this trip. I had to redesign the gallery pages to cope with the sheer number of the images. I now made the gallery page have multiple gallery pages. Each one showing 21 images (currently).

We had lots of powder the first few days then it went really sunny and nice. Here is a select few of the photos I took. The complete gallery is available here

Lightest Snowboard

Friday, June 6th, 2008

Well its finally happened. My Burton custom (from 2000) needs replacing.

I’ve been looking for a new snowboard for our trip to Les Arcs next year. I really want to get the lightest board I can afford. Sounds simple? No.

For some very strange reason the websites for snowboards (burton, ride, gnu etc) dont say how heavy their boards actually are. They say how heavy the rider can be, but not how heavy the board is.

I’m not sure the weight of the board really makes a difference, but if it doesn’t why do manufactures keep trying to make boards lighter?

I think of getting a Burton Vapor but I thought I better find out more about it. Its a lot of money.

I read some reviews

Everyone says its very good board but expensive.

Helmet Cam Arrived

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Well my vholdr helmet cam arrived today (on my birthday too).

It was relatively cheap too only €363. The weak dollar really made a difference though.

Camera cost $349.99 (€221.34)
Shipping cost $77.95 (€49.30)
Import charges €91.64

I have just taken the first video and it looks great for such a little camera.

It seems to have a very wide angle lens which should be great, but it does seem to wash out colors.  This is probably because they configured the codec to drop colour so it can keep the frame rate high.

Now I just need to buy a nice helmet.
